چکیده

Many food products are recommended to give health benefits. Thus algae superfoods consumption is growing worldwide, although quite a few studies have examined the quantities of radionuclides they contain and their potential effects on human health. The study presents radioactive 40K, 137Cs, 226Ra, 228Ra, 234Th in supplements available worldwide for consumption. Samples been quantified by gamma-ray spectrometry activity concentrations (Bq/kg dw) ranged 0.23–0.65 (137Cs) followed 1.76–10.7 (226Ra), 0.20–12.7 (228Ra), 11.6–24.2 (234Th), 20.1–400 (40K). Also, effective radiation doses from decay ingested with analyzed estimated. highest annual dose reaching 15.1 µSv/year has assessed naturally occurring 226Ra Chlorella vulgaris Japan. Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant not significantly impacted 137Cs present algal superfoods. Based study, seem be low, would doses, investigated could considered safe food.

Measurement of 226Ra, 228Ra, 137Cs and 40K in edible parts of two types of leafy vegetables cultivated in Tehran province-Iran and resultant annual ingestion radiation dose

Background: The sources of radioactivity in the environment have natural, terrestrial and extraterrestrial, and anthropogenic origins. Plants may get radioactive nuclides in two ways: (i) by the deposition of radioactive fallout, (ii) by absorption from the soil. Materials and Methods: The Concentrations of the natural radionuclides (226Ra, 228Ra, 40K) and the artificial radionuclide (...

226Ra and 228Ra in Croatian rivers.

The presence of natural radionuclides in Croatian rivers emphasizes the need for its continuous monitoring. Therefore results of 226Ra and 228Ra determination in Croatian river waters are presented in this paper. 226Ra and 228Ra were chosen as a possible source of human exposure due to their high radio-toxicity. Fifty liters of river water samples were collected from the Danube, Drava, Sava, Kr...

Evaluation of 226Ra, 232Th, 137Cs and 40K “Agaricus Bisporus” Activity in Cultivated Edible Mushroom formed in Tehran Province- Iran

Introduction Natural and man made radioactive sources exist in our environment they can enter into our food chains. One of these is the soil-mushroom-human chain. High level doses of natural radiation can cause hazards to humans. Materials and Methods Samples of Agaricus bisporus cultivated edible mushroom in Tehran province- Iran were collected from 7 farms. Specific activity of 226Ra, 228Ra, ...

Artificial and natural radioactivity in edible mushrooms from Sao Paulo, Brazil

Environmental biomonitoring has demonstrated that organisms such as crustaceans, fish and mushrooms are useful to evaluate and monitor both ecosystem contamination and quality. Particularly, some mushroom species have a high capacity to retain radionuclides and some toxic elements from the soil and the air. The potential of mushrooms to accumulate radionuclides in their fruit-bodies has been we...
